Maternity Portraits |Branson, MO

Erin and I have known each other since we were around eight years old, and she’s as beautiful as ever! This lovely mama is about to have baby number three and I was so happy to be able to do maternity portraits for her. Another thing I loved about this session, was that we did an in-home session entirely at her house. These sessions are great because they totally lend themselves to the lifestyle, storytelling aspect of photography which is a breath of fresh air for me. I generally do not use props much in portraits anyway, but being able to do sessions in a client’s home just adds some realness that you can’t get on location, and adds to the sentimental factor. 90% of a family’s memories are made at home, so why not capture your portraits there too?

Some may find in-home sessions daunting as they feel the need to have everything clean and in order, but the truth is, “in order” isn’t always real, feasible or authentic. Sometimes real is honest, and messy is beautiful. In fact, a couple of my favorites from this session were the ones in front of her front door where you can see the handprints of her other littles all over the glass. Yes, it’s a mess, but it’s HER beautiful mess and one day she may miss those little handprints all over the glass. Now she has a tangible reminder of how carefree and happy her children are, and messes really don’t matter.
